Steps of Vamana Treatment at VVAC

Purva Karma (Pre-Procedure Preparation)

  • Deepana & Pachana: Herbal medicines are given for 3-5 days to stimulate digestion process and metabolize amas (toxins) from the body. 
  • Snehapana (Internal Oleation): Consumption of medicated ghee like (Mahatikthaka Ghrita) to loosen toxins for easy repulsion. 
  • Abhyanga & Swedana: Full body massage with herbal oils which is followed by steam therapy to liquefy and mobilize the toxins toward the stomach. 

Pradhana Karma (Main Procedure)

The main procedure begins early in the morning on an empty stomach when Kapha is at its peak. Early morning the health seeker at VVAC is given milk or herbal decoctions and emetic formulations such as Madanaphala powder mixed with honey, licorice, or salt water are given.

Paschat Karma (Post-Procedure Care)
