He holds a degree from Mahatma Gandhi Univerisity, Kottayam, Kerala and studied in Govt Ayurvedic College, Thripunithura, Kerala. Dr. Dhanya Vasudevan has completed her medical education from prestigious institutes like SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi (RGUHS, Bangalore) and Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda college, Thrissur, Calicut University. She has an experience of a decade in Ayurveda therapies and has been actively participating in the propagation of Ayurveda via delivering national and international seminars and researching and publishing articles in renowned Ayurveda Journals.
Dr. Gopal Menon has an immense experience of 20 years in Panchkarma therapies and comes from a family of authentic Kerala Ayurveda Vaidyas. In his experience of working as an Ayurveda practitioner, he has gained a lot of exposure, working in India and abroad. He specializes in massaging and bandaging techniques in IVDP (Inter Vertebral Disc Prolapse).
He has graduated from MGR Medical University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In addition to holding several national and international seminar, he enjoys cultivating herbal plants which are used in Ayurveda therapies.
This therapy is an ocular therapy and is effective for stressed eyes and eye ailments. It increases the blood circulation around the eyes and nourishes and rejuvenates them. It is both preventive and therapeutic treatment for the eyes.
Diseases treated: Eye disorders including glaucoma, stressed eyes, weak eyes, dryness in the eyes etc.
Here luke warm medicated oil/ desi cows ghee is retained in leak proof walls over the eyes for a specific period of time as prescribed by our doctors at Arya Vaidya Sansthanam, Baddi. The height of this wall is equivalent to 2 fingers and the medicated liquid is poured on closed eyes till the tip of the eyelashes.

Navarkizhi is known to rejuvenate the person. It is a sweat inducing therapy where the entire body or a particular part is made to perspire with the help of small rice filled linen bags. The sweat produced gets rid of the body’s toxins. It is best known to balance the vata and kapha doshas.
Diseases treated: It is effective in treating degenerative muscle diseases like poliomyelitis muscular atrophy, hypertension, skin ailments, arthritis and joint pains.
First of all medicated oil is massaged over the patient’s body. Then the person is massaged with small linen bags filled with cooked Navara rice. This Navara rice is boiled in a mixture of desi cow’s milk and medicinal decoction. Before massaging the whole body with the rice bags, these bags are dipped in the same milk and decoction mixture kept comfortable warm over a flame at all times during the treatment.
Navarkizhi is known to show better results when immediately followed after Pizhichil therapy. The duration of the treatment may vary from 14 to 21 days as prescribed by the doctor.
Sirovasti is known strengthen the nervous system. It helps restore balance in the vata dosha and calm down the mind thereby allowing the body to start its self-healing process and relieve stress.
Diseases treated: Cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, Bell’s palsy, facial paralysis, ENT ailmengts, diseases related to the head and sense organs and other psychosomatic disorders.
Firstly the entire body is massaged with warm medicated oil in order to prepare it for therapy. This helps to refresh the nerve endings. It is a special therapy where medicated oils/ ghee are administered on the head. Here a leather cap is placed tightly around the patients head. The patient is made to sit in an upright position and medicated oil or ghee is pooled into it at a warm comfortable temperature. The oil is filled up to a level of one finger above the patient’s head and retained for about 30 – 45 minutes. The duration of the therapy varies from 1-1.5 hours, generally for a period of 7 days.
It is used to balance the vata dosha and its related diseases.
Diseases treated: Spondylosis, rheumatism, back pains, anxiety, hemiplegia, intellectual disability and paralysis.
This therapy is a combination of heat treatment and massage. Here the patient is made to lie straight on a special wooden bed, called Droni. A stream of luke warm oil is poured on to the patient’s body from a prescribed height. This is done by squeezing linen cloth dipped in warm medicated oil. Simultaneously, as the oil is spread, four experienced masseurs gently massage the body. Pizhichil is done on the body below the neck area and duration may vary from 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the patients capacity.

Nasyam is an Ayurveda Therapy that has direct impact on the nervous system and gets rid of the toxins/ doshas collected in the sinuses or shiras. In Ayurveda, the primary function of nose is considered not just breathing but also the administration of medicines. Nose is considered to be the entry to head, thus all ailments in organs above the collarbone can be treated through the nose. It is used for treatment of ailments related to the nose, throat, sinuses and head.
Diseases Treated: Migraine, chronic cold, paralysis, rheumatism, arthritis, spondylosis and other psychosomatic diseases. Here the face, shoulders and chest are massaged gently with certain herbal concoctions and oils. A measured quantity of medicated oil or herbal extracts, as prescribed by the physician are administered into the nostrils via inhaling.
The mucus coating inside the nose are lined with numerous nerve endings and these medicated oils affect directly on them to calm down the Vata. It is to be administered on an empty stomach, 1 hour prior to or after physical activity.
The 6 different types of Nasyam Therapies include:
• Virechna Nasyam (cleansing): Here instead of medicated oils, dry powder such as Brahmi or Jatamasi is administered in the nostrils with the help of tubes. It is primarily used to treat kapha Imbalance causing ailments such as headaches, drowsiness, parkinson’s, epilepsy, etc.
• Bruhana Nasyam (nutritive): Medicated milk/oil/ ghee such as shatavari ghee, ashwagandha ghee are administered through the nose to balance primarily vata doshas. Used to treat vata type headaches, anxiety, migraines, dryness etc.
• Shamana Nasyam (sedative): Herbal medicated liquids/ oils and teas are administered through the nore. It is primarily used to balance pitta and kapha doshas such as hair thinning, psoriasis, conjunctivitis etc
• Navana Nasyam (decoction): Fresh juice and medicated decoctions administered through the nose. Primarily used to balance vata-pitta or kapha-pitta doshas.
• Marshya Nasyam: Ghee/oil is applied to the nostrils with the help of finger. It is accompanied by a gentle massage and results in relaxation.
Dhara is one of the most effective Ayurveda therapies especially for the nervous system. It is generally used in Vatta and Pitta imbalance.
Diseases treated: It is found beneficial in treating stress related ailments such as hypertension, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, depression, chronic headaches, hysteria and psoriasis. It is also used to cure certain skin diseases as it acts as a massage that restores the function between the Vata and Mana.
Here the patient is advised to lie down straight on a specific wooden bed called Droni. Then a continuous flow of a warm medicated oil/ liquid is poured on the patients forehead from the prescribed height through a specially designed instrument known as Dhara Chatti. This is done for 1 to 1.5 hours and can sometimes be executed on the entire body as per the ailment.
The effect that Dhara has on the body is similar to that of meditation. The liquid prescribed in Dhara is disease specific, as prescribed by the physician and can include from medicated oils, tender coconut water and herb extracts. It is said that Ayurveda is incomplete without Dhara since the benefits are numerous.
